Social Science Research Thesis - Psychology

The research thesis involves an analysis of previously collected and/or own collected research data, based on a well-formulated research question. The precise definition and requirements of the type and amount of scholarly sources (most importantly the existing academic literature in the student’s field) as well as the research data will depend on the criteria determined by the supervisor.
 

Format
Students are able to choose between different thesis time formats (i.e., they can write their thesis in the first or second semester). All students must hand in a Registration Form at mid-term in the semester preceding the semester(s) in which the actual research will be carried out.

Requirements
The general criteria for the final thesis manuscript is that it is structured as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7^th edition) (e.g.,

Other specific criteria for the final thesis manuscript (e.g., the length of the manuscript) will be determined by the thesis supervisor. The deadline for the final thesis manuscript will be published on Osiris.

Prerequisites
As the Bachelor’s Thesis is intended as the final stage of the academic program, students should not start a research project before finishing their second year.
All SSC majors must complete UCACCMET12 plus UCACCMET22 or UCACCMET23 and at least one level 3 course in PSY.
