Course goals

Learning objectives
At the end of the course, the student is able to:

• Understand fiduciary responsibilities, duties, and governance issues in finance;
• Evaluate ethical dilemmas in finance;
• Understand the relevance of ethics in financial decision making;
• Integrate ethical and moral principles in financial decisions.

Content

Finance professionals with fiduciary duties are expected to act in accordance with the highest ethical standards. However, history has taught us examples of financial scandals and crises that have reduced societal trust in the ethics and integrity of financial intermediaries. This course focuses on the role of ethics in finance, how ethical issues arise in financial decision making and financial intermediation and the role of finance professionals in upholding ethical standards.
